Pilot Assessment Preparation

Guiding you through a structured, step-by-step pilot preparation program

General information

Pilot assessment

Review CV

Before receiving an invitation, airlines carefully review each candidate’s curriculum vitae to ensure all minimum requirements are met.

Shortlist

Candidates who meet these criteria are then shortlisted for assessment based on factors such as overall experience, additional qualifications, and, in many cases, the quality and motivation demonstrated in their cover letter.

As in any industry, recruitment in aviation is influenced by supply and demand, making thorough preparation essential to stand out in a competitive environment.

Supply and demand

Our team includes experienced, in-house pilot assessors from leading airlines such as Qatar Airways, ASL Airlines, and TUI Group. With many years of experience screening candidates, they provide realistic assessment scenarios and equip you with the tools needed to succeed in both theoretical and simulator evaluations.

Why us?

Inviation received

Main components

If you have been invited to a specific airline assessment, we tailor your preparation accordingly while reinforcing essential fundamentals.

In general, a pilot assessment consists of two main components:

  • an individual assessment, often comprising several sub-parts, and

  • a simulator evaluation.
Some airlines also include a third element: a group exercise designed to assess teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.

EASA

Our training primarily focuses on airlines operating under European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards, ensuring you understand what to expect. At the same time, we have the expertise to prepare you for a wide range of international airline assessments.

outside EASA

In certain regions, additional requirements may apply. For example, in some Asian countries, a medical examination is conducted prior to the simulator assessment. In China, candidates may also complete an additional day of evaluation, including the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) ATPL questionnaire.

Beyond minimum proficiency

It is well known that even candidates who progress to the simulator phase may not successfully pass, particularly during periods of lower pilot demand. Our approach is to train you beyond minimum proficiency, equipping you with the confidence and skills required to perform at a high standard and make a strong impression on assessors.

Guidance across all stages

Our course provides comprehensive preparation across all stages of the assessment process—from knowledge testing through to the simulator evaluation. In addition, we offer guidance on crafting a professional cover letter and curriculum vitae, ensuring you present yourself effectively from the very first step.

The Selection Process

PART 1: theoretical preparation

Motivation letter

We provide expert guidance on drafting a compelling motivation letter, with a clear focus on how it will be perceived by HR professionals.

Rather than presenting a generic application, we help you align your message with the airline’s identity, values, and culture—ensuring a tailored and impactful introduction.

Aptitude Testing

Standard aptitude assessments typically include verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, and spatial awareness exercises. These are based on the same formats used by airlines and flight training organizations across the industry. We provide access to comprehensive and regularly updated test packages covering a wide range of airline-specific assessments.

The Individual Assessment

Theoretical Assessments

Many airlines evaluate your technical knowledge prior to or during the interview stage. For example, carriers such as Qatar Airways and Emirates often require candidates to complete a questionnaire before proceeding further—eliminating up to 20–30% of applicants at this stage.

We identify the key subject areas most frequently assessed and prepare you accordingly. IFR knowledge may also be tested, either in written form or during the interview.

We prepare you with the most frequently asked IFR and aircraft performance  questions and beyond, so you can make a confident and outstanding impression.

Interview Preparation

We prepare you thoroughly for the interview process, covering:

  • what to expect during each stage,

  • effective mental preparation techniques, and

  • professional presentation and grooming standards.

HR Interview

We conduct realistic interviews using questions commonly asked by airlines, helping you refine your responses and deliver a confident, structured performance.

Typically, you will be interviewed by a panel that may include a pilot, an HR representative, and sometimes a psychologist.

Our coaching focuses on:

In some cases, psychological questioning is used to assess personality traits and decision-making. We guide you in maintaining consistency and clarity in your responses while remaining authentic.

  • professional behavior and communication during the interview,

  • common pitfalls to avoid,

  • projecting confidence without overconfidence,

  • the importance of non-verbal communication,

  • understanding what airlines seek in future employees, and

  • preparing for technical (including IFR-related and aircraft performance) and psychological questions.

Group Exercise

2013.jpg

Many airlines include a group exercise or role-play scenario involving fellow candidates. This stage is designed to evaluate teamwork, communication, and leadership qualities.

We prepare you to:

  • actively contribute without dominating the discussion,

  • express clear and constructive viewpoints,

  • respect and build on others’ ideas, and

  • demonstrate strong team-oriented behavior.

These exercises are often observed by a psychologist or assessor, who evaluates both your interaction style and overall performance. We help you identify and eliminate any behaviors that could be perceived negatively, ensuring you present yourself as a balanced and effective team player.

PART 2: Simulator preparation

Simulator Preparation

Congratulations—you have reached the final stage of the selection process: the simulator assessment. At this stage, assessors primarily evaluate two key aspects: your ability to learn and adapt quickly (particularly for non-type-rated candidates, including both rule-based and skill-based performance), and your Crew Resource Management (CRM) competencies. Both are critical to successful airline operations and form the foundation of safe, effective multi-crew flying.

In many cases, assessments are conducted in a Boeing 737 simulator, as it provides an excellent platform to demonstrate core flying skills. Our advanced fixed-base training device is equipped with full control loading, accurately replicating control forces across all axes. This high- fidelity environment makes it an exceptionally effective tool for developing and refining your flying performance.

You will typically be presented with a realistic airport scenario and may be required to complete a short flight preparation exercise in coordination with another candidate.

For non-type-rated candidates, assessors will provide a detailed briefing, including thrust and attitude settings for various flight phases and configurations. These parameters are broadly consistent across Boeing 737 variants (Classic, NG, and MAX), with minor variations.

For type-rated candidates, the briefing is generally shorter, and a higher level of aircraft handling proficiency is expected from the outset.

Simulator Assessment

Our training is tailored to reflect the scenarios you are most likely to encounter. For several airlines, we provide preparation based on actual assessment profiles. In addition, we train you according to commonly used industry standards, including:

  • short, skill-based circuit flying exercises,

  • handling non-normal situations such as engine failures,

  • ILS approaches, and

  • other core flight maneuvers

Where specific airline scenarios are unavailable, we focus on the most probable assessment patterns to ensure you are fully prepared. You are also free to tailor the session to your individual needs—maximizing the value of your simulator time.

A strong emphasis is placed on CRM skills, ensuring smooth and effective crew coordination, particularly in non-normal situations.

Our objective is to ensure you approach your assessment with confidence, competence, and readiness.
